At first didn't watch swallowed star because it is sci-fi and generally I'm not interested in sci-fi. I also thought the MC is going to be super OP until nobody else matters and there is no tension. Or like those donghua where there will be countless young master belittle him constantly and he beat them up very fast._Swallowed squanders so much of its body horror potential. Reveals of what the drug satchels contain elicit a visceral reaction, as do retrieval methods. There's an unflinching quality to it, but-Swallowed is a simple yet poetic story about a friendship and self-protection. it's well worth a spin if you're a fan of indie character-focused stories with concise conclusions, but it may feel~Swallowed wastes no time announcing its intentions: this is a horror-thriller built from bad decisions, economic desperation, and the kind of bodily risk that makes your stomach tighten before anything explicitly grotesque even happens.
